Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched 5G services in India, officially launching the use of the country’s next-generation network. However, 5G services won’t be instantly accessible over the entire nation.
The rollout of 5G services will happen in stages. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune are among the 13 cities where 5G networks would be introduced first.
Within the next few months, the remaining cities, towns, and villages in India will be able to connect to the new network, and within two to three years, the entire country would have access to the 5G network.
For those who are unaware, 5G is a newer generation of data rates that not only speeds up downloads but also opens the door for a variety of new use cases, such as driverless vehicles and cloud gaming.
If you live in one of these places, it might still be some time before you can use the service because telecom companies like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea may roll out 5G services in these 13 cities in a staged fashion. As Reliance Jio, which expects to launch its 5G plans in these cities by Diwali this year, has also announced, major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai are slated to be the first regions to receive 5G connectivity.
In addition to offering quicker download rates, 5G has a variety of other applications. The service will also be utilized in a number of governmental functions, including emergency preparedness, smart agriculture, and the health sector.
